Frequently Asked Questions (Pole)
What do I wear?
For all pole classes: Wear flexible, soft shorts that are at least mid-thigh but preferably as short as you can and a singlet or crop top. Do not wear moisturizer, sun cream, any oils or fake tan on your hands or body on the day of your pole class or you'll get slippery and won't be able to get a good grip. You may wear anything over your pole shorts and top for the warm-up. Please remove all jewelry before class - this is to prevent injury to you and damage to the poles. For Pole Flow classes it's recommended that you bring leggings, leg warmers and/or knee-pads and heels.
What do I bring?
Optional: anything you need to exercise comfortably. Water bottle, sweat towel, your own yoga mat, fresh clothes for after, a warm top-layer in winter for warm-up, pole shoes, deodorant... etc. It's up to you.
What happens in a pole class?
A pole class usually starts with a warm up and some active stretching or conditioning exercises. The bulk of the class is spent learning tricks. The class ends with a cool down. Flow classes start with a warm-up and proceed to learning choreography, dancing out what you've learned, and end with a cool down stretch.
What type of poles are there?
8x 38mm spinning brass poles. For private hire and private tuition, a 42mm stainless steel swing pole can be made available.
I'm under 18, can I still take a class?
Yes, but you need a parent to sign for you.
I'm male, aren't there mostly girls in a pole class?
We're a gender neutral studio, so there may be any number of students of any gender identity in any one class.
Do I need high heels?
No. You are welcome to bring a pair though. Feel free to wear whatever you like on your feet so long as they don't have metal or glass or otherwise sharp parts that will scratch the poles. For grip help some people wear plastic or leather heels or shoes. Fabric based shoes tend to slip.
Heels are recommended for heels-based pole choreography or flow classes, but not necessary - the class can be done barefoot or in socks.
What happens if I can't make a class?
Please give us as much notice as possible. For course classes, if you give at least 24hrs notice, you might be able to take a make-up class (availability/suitability depending). See Terms and Conditions for further details.
