We had a BALL being a part of St Kilda Festival 2017! (See photos and video below!)
We started the day packing up the freestanding aerial rig and equipment in the trailer and then we set-up the studio for our free Pole, Hoop and Silks classes which ran from 10am - noon. The studio was packed, we met lots of new people, and everyone had SO much fun!
At noon Amy, Liz, Em, Jac and Jase hooked up the trailer and jumped into the car. We set off to get to Albert Park (just off Fitzroy St). Someone snuck a bucket of jelly beans into the car, so there was a fair amount of giggling in the back seat! Selfies were also taken, of course.
We met St Kilda Festival staff at the check-in point and proceeded to drive at walking pace down a blocked-off and policed Lakeside Dr and then the wrong way down Fitzroy St - rebels! We got to park right next to our marked-off circle and started unloading and setting up the rig while Jase went to pick up a few last things.
Our performances started off with Jac showing off her skills on the swinging pole. Liz and Em performed several times on hoop doing their acclaimed and highly entertaining doubles routine from the Victorian Aerial Awards. Bri smashed her first two swinging pole performances with some smooth spinning entries and strong tricks. Amy wrapped the swing pole with a length of rubber from Stunt Grip and got up there too!
We spent the time not performing talking to interested passersby, taking turns to check out the stalls surrounding us and trying not to get sunburned (we can't wear anything oily like moisturizer or sunscreen while working on aerial apparatus - slipping is not an option!).
We were all happy but exhausted by the end of our performances (after also teaching classes that morning) so the performers/instructors all went home and Amy and Jase took care of the pack-up.
Thankyou to everyone who came to our classes and came out to the Festival to support us! Special thanks to Mimi for the wonderful photos!
